It is my honour and privilege to welcome you on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Academic Board, Management, Staff and Students of Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology (IMIT), Nkwoagu-Amuda Isuochi, Umunneochi L.G.A, Abia State. My dear friends, we have every reason to rejoice and glorify the Almighty God for the establishment of a digital Private Polytechnic in Abia State. Permit me to inform you that Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology (IMIT) Nkwoagu-Amuda Isuochi, Umunneochi L.G.A, Abia State was approved and licensed by the Federal Ministry of Education and National Board for Technical Education (FME/NBTE) in January, 2021 to operate as a Private Polytechnic in Nigeria. It was founded by an erudite Scholar, Professor of repute, a literary critic and Poets who sacrificed his comforts for the benefits of his people and Nigerians, a man who has given hope to the hopeless and encouragement to the despondent, a distinguished Elder statesman and a patriotic true Nigerian, a Former Minister of Education and of Health, Federal Republic of Nigeria; Sir Professor Ihechukwu Chiedozie Madubuike, Ph.D, OON. He is an indisputable lover of his people, having demonstrated his faith and commitment to the struggle for eradication of illiteracy and poverty. His commitment to see that the entire children of Umunneochi Local Government Area in particular and Nigerians in general is educated, symbolizes his faith that education is a virile legacy a nation could pass to his children. “External blessings to the womb and hands that produced and natured Sir Professor Ihechukwu Madubuike, for blessed is the generations unborn, shall call him, for he that is mighty has magnified and elevated him.” Permit me to inform you that Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology (IMIT) is the first Polytechnic in Umunneochi Local Government Area. It is a 21st century Private Polytechnic, built according to a Master Plan with a Staff Secondary School / Nursery and Primary School and boarding facilities for male and female students and sporting facilities at the permanent site. The Polytechnic is highly equipped with functional Laboratories and skilled manpower. Presently, we offer the following National Diploma courses such as ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, ND Computer Engineering Technology, ND Computer Science, ND Mathematics/Statistics, ND Science Laboratory Technology, ND Mass Communication, ND Public Administration, ND Business Administration and Management. The Laboratories for these courses are equipped to empower practical skills and technical education for the development of next generation of leaders. The Higher National Diploma (HND) courses that are fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) include the following: HND – Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology (Power and Machines), HND – Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology (Electronics and Telecommunication), HND – Science Laboratory Technology (Biology/Microbiology) HND – Science Laboratory Technology (Chemistry/Biochemistry), HND – Computer Engineering Technology, HND – Computer Science, HND – Public Administration, HND – Business Administration and Management. To my worthy students, I congratulate you on your admission into Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology, a digital Polytechnic of the 21st Century. I advise you to embrace God, your studies and the virtues of hard work. The Polytechnic Chapel, IMIT Rejoice has been established to take care of your spiritual needs. Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth while the evil days come not, nor the years draw near, when they shall say, I have no pleasure in them. (Ecclesiastes 12 vs. 1).As pioneer students, you should avail yourselves of the opportunity offered by the polytechnic with state of the art facilities and functional laboratories to acquire practical skills and ICT education for self-reliance in a conducive environment. Let me warn you to desist from acts of indiscipline and lawlessness. The Academic Board and Management under my leadership has zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractices, indecent dressing, stealing and insubordination to the constituted authorities. Any student indicted will face expulsion and prosecution while his/her name will be published in any National Newspaper and other social media. To my digital staff, your employment with the Polytechnic is not by accident, it was destined by God. Therefore, I implore you to be committed to the vision of the Proprietor and mission of the polytechnic which is to empower innovation for self-reliance to justify the confidence reposed in you in order to contribute towards making the institution a Nigeria’s Havard Citadel of learning with global recognitions of IMIT graduates possessing entrepreneurial skills, technical and managerial competence for the transformation of Nigeria’s Petro-dollar economy to a diversified industrial economy. May I inform you that the Academic Board under my leadership will fear God and trust in Him while upholding transparency, accountability, equity, justice and fair play in our Academic Board policies to promote academic excellence and scholarships among staff and students of the Polytechnic. My special appreciation goes to the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) and the Executive Secretary of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), for their transparency and honesty in the resource Inspection exercise through which the Approval/License to operate as a Private Polytechnic in 2021 was granted and the Accreditation of all National Diploma (ND) courses and Higher National Diploma (HND) courses in 2025. Finally, I wish to appreciate the Chairman of the Governing Council Rt. Rev. Prof. Chima Madubuike, Dr. J.K.J Okonkwoand other Council members for their inestimable supports and policy direction which helped the institution to record unparallel achievements within the short periods.
